Let me guess… If you are reading this blog post right now, you are in a bit of a panic. Your recent lip injections did not give the desired result, and now you fear that there is no going back! And let’s be honest. Google is never very helpful 🙄. As I search for “how to fix bad lip injections” or “lip injections gone bad”, I’m bombarded with some DISTURBING images, to say the least. Don’t search it, I warned you! Even if you’ve seen these unsettling images (yeah, I know you still looked 😉), no need to panic. First off, I’m sure that your lip injection results are not THAT bad. Secondly, you can get the filler results dissolved fairly easily at Myrha Beauty in Ontario, Canada. As an Aesthetic Nurse Injector, I want each of my patients to leave my office proud to show off their treatments...and not be searching online how to reverse them! 🤷🏼‍♀️

How Does This Process Work?

If you come to see Myrha at her office in Ontario, Canada, to correct bad injections she will inject a substance called hyaluronidase to dissolve the fillers. Hylenex is the hyaluronidase product that we prefer to use (more on that below). Not to go all science teacher mode on you all 👩🏼‍🔬, but hyaluronidase is actually a soluble protein enzyme. This enzyme disintegrates the hyaluronic acid that is used in lip fillers. Hyaluronidase dissolves the bonds holding the hyaluronic acid together. And even better, your body will actually just reabsorb the molecules from the HA acid!

Why Do We Use Hylenex to Dissolve Lip Fillers?

And now, more on Hylenex, since I feel it’s best you know what’s being injected into you 😄. One of the main reasons that we use Hylenex is due to the fact that it very rarely causes any allergic reactions. You are already unhappy with your lip injection results, the last thing we want for you to deal with is even MORE swelling! It is also worth noting that most Hylenex treatments are relatively quick, as well! On average, they usually only take around five minutes.

What Are Some Common Reasons For This Hylenex Treatment?

Now, as I said before, I’m sure your lip injections look nothing like what comes up on Google Images when you search “bad lip injections”. In fact, my patients that are given a Hylenex treatment all come in for a variety of reasons. Here are the most common:

  • Movement of product: Sometimes the injections just don’t settle in the right spot. There is only so much that injectors can do. At the end of the day, your anatomy just might make it difficult for the injection to fill into the intended spot.

  • Lumps: This is actually very common, due to the fact that your lips are so thin. Unfortunately, any foreign substance that does not settle correctly will most likely cause these lumps and bumps to show up.

  • Blockage of blood vessels: This is the most dangerous/urgent reason that someone will come to us for a Hylenex treatment (and also very rare, don’t worry). If filler is accidentally put into a blood vessel, it can actually stop blood flow in that area and even stop oxygen from getting to the right tissues.

  • Duck Lips: Refer to this old blog post of mine for my honest opinion on this new trend. To sum it all up, I don’t think that this trend is cute in any way 🙃.

What If I Want To Start Over And Add Some Filler Back?

Well, you’ve come to the right place, because I offer lip injection treatments, as well! NO DUCK LIPS HERE! But let’s take care of your existing issues first. I know, I know, you’re excited to work with me, but just chill out for a second 😉. All kidding aside, it is important that you give a bit of recovery time from the removal of your old fillers to your new treatments. Your lips are obviously going through a great deal of stress, so there might be just a bit of irritation. Redness, swelling and light bruising are all fairly common. This typically only lasts for around 24-48 hours. Once I’ve given a proper assessment and can tell that you have fully healed, we can most definitely start fresh! After we dissolve the fillers that you are unhappy with, it takes about a week of healing before we can re-shape your pout 👄 with fresh filler injections. Want to see some of Myrha’s work?
